Senator
Dockery Works with Colt Creek Planning Committee
Lakeland – This afternoon, Senator Paula Dockery along with
other members of the Colt Creek State Park advisory council will meet with the
public to discuss the progress of the proposed land management plan for the Colt
Creek State Park.
Public Meetings were held earlier this year by the Colt Creek
State Park advisory council which yielded information from citizens that
helped shape the landscape of Florida’s newest park. Since the grand
opening, Colt Creek State Park has seen over 8,000 visitors and had numerous
volunteers helping to clear trails and assisting with the general upkeep of the
park.
The purpose of tonight’s meeting is to present the adopted
proposals, to unveil and review the current plan for development and to take
comments from citizens on the parks progress. The completion of Colt Creek
State Park is a multiyear process and it’s vital to have input from the public
along the way. Citizens interested in obtaining a copy of the management
prospectus can do so by contacting Colt Creek State Park at (863) 815-6758.
The Colt Creek State Park Advisory Group will also meet on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the latest proposals of the
park. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. This meeting
will take place at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s
regional office on Drane Field Road.
Senator Paula Dockery represents the 15th
District of the Florida Senate which consists of parts of Polk, Hernando,
Osceola, Sumter and Lake Counties.
The Legislature convened for a Special Session on
property tax reform from June 11-14.
We passed a statutory provision that will provide immediate
relief to all categories of property tax payers, as well as a constitutional
amendment introducing a new super homestead
exemption that will be on the ballot on January 29, 2008, during the
Presidential Primary. Voters will decide whether to
add the new super homestead exemption while keeping the option of Save Our
Homes for those who are currently protected under that exemption.
More detailed information on this property tax reform
legislation is listed below.
